The center of new wave music production would be Steve Lillywhite. The heavy drum sound of the early 80's may have something to do with Steve. His production was unique with Simple Minds' Sparkle In The Rain while Ultravox' first two albums had a fresh perspective on what was the prototype of 80's post-punk. About half of this week's Modern World will be dedicated to music produced by Steve Lillywhite.
The tribute to the later producer Ritchie Cordell will include the production or songwriting work he did with Ramones, Bow Wow Wow, Rubinoos, and Joan Jett. The music he wrote and produced throughout the 60's and 70's have been influential on many artists including those who worked directly with him. Ritchie will be missed.
